Walk-In Cooler and Freezer Installation in London

London is the commercial hub of Southwestern Ontario, two hours down Highway 401 from our Mississauga shop. WFE installs walk-in coolers and freezers for its restaurants, grocers, food processors, and campus food-service operators on planned day trips: site visit and measure-up in one drive, then the panels, refrigeration, and in-house crew arrive together for the build. Same crew quality and same long-term install warranty as our GTA work.

London · The Story

Two hours down the 401.
Built like a Mississauga job.

London sits two hours west of our shop, close enough for a same-week site visit and far enough that we plan the build as one trip. Panels, refrigeration, and crew leave Mississauga together, the box goes up in a planned window, and the warranty stays with the crew that built it.

01 — Restaurant Refrigeration London

Richmond Row to Wellington Road South,
the Forest City runs on cold storage.

London's restaurant refrigeration and grocery demand runs from the Richmond Row and downtown core through Masonville, Wonderland Road, and the Wellington Road South retail strip, plus the campus food-service operations at Western University and Fanshawe College. Most GTA refrigeration contractors will quote a London job and then hesitate on the travel.

WFE schedules the trip. Every walk-in cooler we build in London comes from the same in-house crew as our GTA installs: standard parts, documented refrigerant charges, and service-accessible condensers, so whoever takes the next service call can keep it running.

02 — London Commercial Refrigeration

Snow-belt winters and 401 processors
change the spec.

London's commercial refrigeration mix is heavier on food processing than most cities its size: meat, dairy, and prepared-food plants along the 401 corridor and Veterans Memorial Parkway. Those builds run 20×40+ multi-zone with washdown-grade stainless or PVC facings, CFIA documentation, and refrigeration sized for continuous load rather than restaurant cycling.

Lake-effect winters matter too. Any outdoor condensing unit on a London build gets a low-ambient rating, and a walk-in freezer gets its heat-load math done for a real January, not a template. Processing-scale rooms run through our custom cold storage service.

03 — Warranty That Travels

One crew owns the build,
the paperwork, and the return trip.

Most refrigeration shops sub warranty work out to a local service company they have never met. WFE keeps it in-house: the crew that builds your London install is the crew that answers for it, the same accountability chain as our Toronto and Mississauga work.

For most issues we diagnose remotely first and ship parts; when hands are needed, the same crew drives out. At two hours, a London service call is a same-week trip, and we pair larger installs with a preventive-maintenance schedule so the box never waits on an emergency.

04 — Middlesex-London Permits & Inspections

Filed, scheduled,
running at temperature.

A London install is a planned trip, not a drop-by. Site visit and measure-up get bundled into one drive, and the panels, refrigeration, and fittings for the whole build leave Mississauga together. You get a firm install date, the crew commits the days to commission the box, and it is handed over running at temperature.

Any food-contact build in the city needs Middlesex-London Health Unit clearance, plus electrical and refrigeration permits filed through the City of London Building Division. Permit windows run two to four weeks, and WFE files the full package and schedules inspections to line up with the install window.

“When it comes to World Food, they mean business. They provided the best cooling solution for my commercial property and even saved me money on machinery that other companies told me are "required". Best prices, best service, & best quality, World Food is always going to be on speed dial for my business needs.”

London walk-in cooler
questions.

01 Does WFE actually install walk-in coolers in London, or just quote them?
Yes, we install. London is two hours from our Mississauga shop, so a site visit is a same-week day trip and the install itself runs as one planned window with materials and the in-house crew arriving together. The build quality and the long-term install warranty are the same as our GTA work.
02 How long does a walk-in cooler install take in London?
From quote approval to commissioned and operating: typically 3 to 5 weeks for a standard restaurant or grocery walk-in. Panel supply lead time accounts for most of that; the on-site build window is comparable to a GTA install. Processing-scale multi-zone rooms run 8 to 12 weeks.
03 Do you build for food processors in London, not just restaurants?
Yes. London has a real food-processing base along the 401 and Veterans Memorial Parkway, and those builds are custom cold storage: multi-zone envelopes, washdown-grade stainless or PVC facings, CFIA and HACCP documentation, and refrigeration sized for continuous load. We hand over the panel certifications with the build record.
04 How does WFE handle maintenance and warranty for London installs?
The crew that built it comes back. For most issues we diagnose remotely first and ship parts; when hands are needed, London is a same-week drive. We recommend pairing larger installs with a scheduled preventive-maintenance plan of two to three visits a year. For an active emergency on a still-running unit, a local London refrigeration tech is the faster call, and we will tell you that on the phone.
05 Why choose WFE for a London install over a local refrigeration company?
Split it by job type. For emergency repair on a running unit, local is faster. For a custom-design new install or a replacement of a beyond-repair unit, WFE brings specialist build depth: 313A-licensed technicians, in-house install crews, engineered panel systems from Norbec and Kingspan, and a warranty backed by the crew that did the work.
