Metal facings & finishes

  • Prefinished galvanized steel: 26ga, 24ga, or 22ga. Stucco embossed or smooth, white standard. The workhorse facing for restaurant and retail walk-ins.
  • Stainless steel Type 304, #2B or #4 brushed: Meat, dairy, and washdown rooms where sanitation chemicals attack paint. Specify interior only or both faces.
  • Food-grade PVC laminate: Smooth, non-corroding interior for USDA-style and CFIA-registered processing rooms. Pairs with coved floor-to-wall trim.

Cores: high-density polyurethane (Norbec) or QuadCore (Kingspan). Concealed cam-lock fastening, factory-applied joint sealant, continuous vapour barrier.

Standard vs custom sizing

  • Kingspan QuadCore: 45-3/8″ standard module; lengths 8′ to 53′. Vertical wall and ceiling; long spans for warehouse-scale rooms.
  • Norbec: 6″ to 47″, cut to plan; lengths 6′ to 18′. Vertical wall and ceiling; tight footprints and odd-width infill.
  • Custom cut lists: Odd widths, corner sections, door sections, and ceiling spans are cut to your drawing. Send the floor plan and we return a panel schedule.
  • Trims and accessories: Coved base, corner and ceiling trims, vapour-seal caulking, and diamond-plate kickplate ship with the order.

Fire & food-safety compliance

  • CAN/ULC-S102: Canadian surface-burning test; flame-spread and smoke-developed values your building official looks for.
  • ASTM E84: The US tunnel test listed alongside S102 on every data sheet we supply.
  • FM Approved assemblies: FM 4880 Class 1 wall and ceiling assemblies, the rating insurers ask about on larger cold storage buildings.
  • CAN/ULC-S138 and NFPA: Additional fire-performance testing on the Kingspan QuadCore system, documented in the submittal package.
  • NSF/ANSI 7 and O. Reg. 493/17: Factory-finished metal or PVC interiors are smooth, non-absorbent, and cleanable on day one, which is what the Ontario Food Premises Regulation and your health unit inspect for.
  • CFIA, HACCP, SQF, BRC: We hand over panel certifications with the build record so the audit file is complete before the auditor asks.

Walk-In Cooler Panels vs Freezer Panels — Same System, Thicker Spec

Walk-in cooler panels and walk-in freezer panels come off the same production line. What changes below 0°C is the thickness and the details around it.

A cooler panel at 4″ holds an R-27 to R-36 wall against a +1°C to +4°C setpoint. A freezer panel steps up to 5″ or 6″ (R-45 to R-54), always sits on an insulated floor panel, and pairs with a heated door frame so the gasket never freezes to the jamb.

Refrigerated wall panels are not only for walk-in boxes. The same insulated metal panel system builds temperature-controlled process rooms, pharmaceutical cold rooms held at 2°C to 8°C, and refrigerated warehouses at distribution scale.

Those rooms change the spec in three places: facings (stainless or PVC for washdown), ceiling spans (long Kingspan modules or a suspended ceiling grid), and thickness (5″ to 8″ where the room runs cold and large). Walk-In Cooler Door Panels & Replacement Panels

A walk-in cooler door panel is a door pre-hung in its own insulated panel section, so it drops into the wall run like any other module. We supply Coldmatic swing and sliding doors in a matching panel with Kason hardware, a magnetic perimeter gasket on coolers, and a heated frame on freezers.

Replacement panels for an existing box are quoted from the manufacturer, thickness, and joint profile of what is in the wall today. Send photos of the joint and a measurement of the panel face and we will tell you whether a like-for-like panel exists or whether the run needs a transition section. Damaged doors can often be swapped as a used walk-in door from stock while a new one is on order.

Used Walk-In Cooler Panels for Sale — What to Check

Used walk-in cooler panels are worth buying when the foam stayed dry and the cam-locks still pull tight. Panels that sat outdoors, or came out of a box with a failed vapour seal, carry absorbed moisture that no longer insulates.

Can I buy walk-in cooler panels from WFE without an install?

Yes. Contractors, builders, and facility teams buy cooler and freezer panels supply-only, quoted per project with a cut list and delivery across Ontario. Surplus pallets and used kits are also sold as priced catalog listings for pick-up in Mississauga; see the for-sale catalog.

What thickness do I need for a walk-in cooler vs a freezer?

4 inch is the standard walk-in cooler panel (R-36 on Kingspan QuadCore, R-27 to R-36 as an installed Norbec wall). Freezers run 5 or 6 inch (R-45 to R-54) with an insulated floor. Refrigerated warehouses and low-temp distribution rooms go to 8 inch (R-72).

Are the panels fire rated and NSF compliant?

Both panel systems carry CAN/ULC-S102 and ASTM E84 surface-burning results, and FM Approved assemblies are available where an insurer requires FM 4880 Class 1. Factory-finished metal and PVC interiors meet the smooth, non-absorbent, cleanable standard in Ontario Regulation 493/17 and the NSF/ANSI 7 sanitation requirements for walk-in interiors. Documentation ships with the panels.

What panel widths and lengths are standard?

Kingspan QuadCore ships in a 45-3/8 inch module at lengths from 8 to 53 feet, which is what makes long-span warehouse ceilings possible. Norbec cuts to plan at widths from 6 to 47 inches and lengths from 6 to 18 feet, which suits tight footprints and odd infill. Both install vertically for walls and span ceilings.

How do cam-lock panels go together?

Each panel edge carries a tongue-and-groove joint with factory-applied sealant and a cam-lock set into the foam. A hex key turns the cam, which pulls the panels together into a vapour-tight seam with no exposed fasteners. The same joint lets a box be expanded or relocated later.

Does WFE manufacture its own panels?

No. WFE supplies and installs panel systems manufactured by Norbec and Kingspan. That is a deliberate choice: both publish tested R-values, fire data, and food-safety documentation that hold up in an audit file.
